What is one of the biggest sources of stress in your home? We are willing to bet organization or a lack of space are high on that list. In a perfect world, our homes should be our sanctuary and a place to seek refuge from the stressors of our life. But, if you are coming home to a cluttered house, relaxing is a near-impossible task.

Here are some organizing hacks for small spaces to help you simplify your life:

  1. Integrate Creative Storage Solutions

When you look at your bathroom, are there items spilling out of your cabinets and shelves? How organized is the Tupperware in your kitchen cabinets, or the toys littering your child’s bedroom? You can bring order to these small spaces with the creative uses of baskets, drawers, hangers, spacers and more. These not only give you a sleek look to your home, but it will help keep you organized if everything has a spot to belong.

  2. Think Vertically

Many of us forget about our vertical spaces when it comes to storing our items. You can utilize the unused space on the backs of cabinet doors in your kitchen by adding door-mounted spice racks. How about hanging your mugs under the floating shelves giving you more room in your cupboard? Even the top half of the inside of our cabinets is often underutilized. Rather than piling all of your items in a heap at the bottom of the cupboard, add small drawers, and install hooks to the sides and the back of the door to hang items from. In your living room, you can add tall bookshelves shelves or floating shelves to fully utilize the entire wall space. Or, give yourself even more room inside your home by organizing your belongings on hooks and racks in your garage. There are countless options to help you make the most of your space!

  3. Untangle Your Home Office

You may not notice how much your office weighs on you, but a cluttered desk is immensely affecting your productivity. Your space is precious, especially if you share your home office with a partner or your kids for school work, or maybe your desk doubles as the kitchen table. One of the most significant contributors to a cluttered space is your many wires tangled about your desk. This can be easily rectified by adding clips or Velcro to the underside of your desk and sweeping the cords out of sight, but have them still easily accessible for all of your charging needs.

  4. Take Advantage of Every Space

When we are limited in the room that we have, we need to take advantage of every nook and cranny. Is your closet overflowing? Move your seasonal items to totes and store those items under your bed. Is there a gap between your washer and dryer? That’s the perfect spot for a narrow roll-out shelving to hold your laundry and cleaning supplies. The dust bunnies don’t need all that space to themselves, we promise.
