Your kitchen is where your day begins and where it ends. It’s where you find those peaceful moments of solitude before the craziness of the day hits, or where you can reflect on the special moments that happen in the evening. However, when your space is dark, cluttered, and simply does not bring you any joy, creating those blissful moments becomes difficult.
This week, we are excited to be sharing a beautiful project that we recently completed in June 2019. Alongside Chris Hamilton of Kismet Contracting and Meghan Heinrich of LMNT Design, we worked to change the layout of an out-dated kitchen, breathing new life into the space. Here’s how the magic happened!
Project Background
We were thrilled that we were asked to be a part of this project in Mayland Heights. We could tell right away that a fresh set of custom cabinets would make an incredible difference in this kitchen!
When we first saw the space, it felt dark, out-dated, and very dysfunctional. There was a lot of open room and bright light, but the old cabinets and appliances weren’t working to maximize the space – instead, they were hindering it. Meghan crafted a plan that would open up the kitchen, let the natural light do the work, and reorganized the layout so it could be used more efficiently!

Client Needs
The couple living in the home are empty nesters. Their kitchen had seen a lot over the years, and we worked to give it the refresh it needed to come back to life.
Cabinetry Details
In the before stages, the kitchen sported dark brown cabinetry, which perhaps in its day was bright, but had grown to be a little dated, ultimately bringing the space down with it.
Completed in June 2019, we replaced these cabinets with a crisp white matte finish and shaker doors, inspired by our farmhouse style. The Silestone quartz countertops supplied by Laporte Surfaces kept the kitchen light and bright, and Meghan selected cup pulls to complete the look and feel of the entire kitchen. To save space and make it more convenient, we added a pull-out for both their recycling and trash, along with a hidden cabinet on the back of the peninsula, and tray dividers next to the cooktop.
After Photos
From start to finish, we had a fantastic time working with Kismet Contracting and LMNT Design on this project. Simplifying the space, making it more functional, and providing the homeowners with the storage solutions that they needed was all it took to ensure that there were plenty of more years left for them to enjoy this house!
