The Custom Home Trends of the Future

Sencillo is deeply rooted in the essence of being simple, easy, and uncomplicated – in fact, that is its literal meaning in the Spanish dictionary. Staying true to this mantra, our team puts forth it’s best efforts to always ensure we are keeping up with trends in the industry, updating our designs, and staying current with the latest technologies and equipment.

It’s our mission to ensure our clients receive the best quality cabinets that fit their space, budget, and style, while ensuring the process from design to construction is eminently seamless. To do this, we make sure we do our research and have our finger tightly on the pulse of the industry.

Our founder Jolanda was recently in Germany attending two fantastic tradeshows, and she left feeling hugely inspired by the latest methods, designs, and trends that she had the pleasure of experiencing.

Here are a few takeaways that we hope encourage you to take the leap and finally begin organizing the clutter, or bringing your space into the modern decade with some simple touches.

Built-in Charging Stations

Being loaded down with so many devices, it can be a struggle to organize and keep track of all the cables required to charge them. In the future, charging stations will be built into your countertops. Just place your device on top of it and let it go!

Smart Homes

This one has been coming for a while with the introduction of Google Home and the Amazon Echo. “Alexa” will soon have the ability to open your cabinets, alongside controlling other major furniture items in your home. Prepare for Alexa to become your new best friend.

Engineered Materials

Engineered materials are becoming more popular than natural materials. Many of the pre-finished materials that we offer are on the leading edge of design. Throughout the show, suppliers were introducing all sorts of unique colours and textures. At the moment, our “Tobacco Halifax Oak” has been a huge success when incorporated with other current trends.

LED Lighting

Gone are the days of replacing your light bulbs every other month. LED lighting has taken over the market and presents an incredible amount of options that are extremely versatile and add depth and interest to any space. They are small and don’t heat up at all, which makes them perfect for adding task lighting inside your cabinets.

Clever Storage

Sometimes, a set of drawers is not what you had in mind for the look and feel of your space. Designers are coming up with unique ways to minimalize and organize your things in any space, with trends like hidden kitchen storage, bookshelves turn Murphy beds, and more – so stay tuned!

Plywood Options

Who would have thought that this would have been our next creative material. You can bend it into creative shapes; carve it into rugged textures and more!

Ligna: The Equipment Show

LIGNA_Logo_rgb_70pxHD.png

This tradeshow was focused on the future of manufacturing, also known as Industry 4.0. In the factory of the future, everything in the process of creating an item to packaging it up and sending it out the door is automated. Computer-controlled machines cut and process all the parts, robot arms move the parts from one machine to the other, and the whole process is controlled and monitored using bar-coded stickers. The role of humans is to apply their creativity as they pump out new designs, program the machines, and simply oversee the process.

For us, this was huge to see and bear witness to what the future of manufacturing is going to look like. It opened our eyes to the possibility of how we can automate our processes here at Sencillo Cabinets and make the first step in becoming a leading edge shop of the future.

Stay tuned for updates as we work to bring you the most current and up-to-date designs, materials, and construction processes so that we can work together to make your design dreams come true!
