Jolanda Slagmolen-Flores, AKBD – Founder

Jolanda began her career in the special events industry, organizing large festivals and events in both Edmonton and Calgary.

In 2004 she decided to make a major career change. She began by taking classes in interior decorating, and soon began working as a Kitchen Designer for a large retailer. As much as she enjoyed working with her clients, she became frustrated by the fact that working with factory-produced modular cabinetry always required that she force the design to conform to the limitations of a manufacturer’s product line.

“I knew that together with Humberto we could offer higher quality, customized products that would better meet people’s unique needs.”

Jolanda has achieved certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer with the National Kitchen and Bath Association, and has been actively involved with the local chapter in a number of capacities, currently as the Chapter Representative.

Humberto Flores – Shop Manager

Humberto began his woodworking career in his native country of Chile. After moving to Canada in 1997, he began working for an international manufacturer of high-end office furnishings. He quickly advanced from building their modular systems to crafting their high-end custom pieces.

Humberto takes pride in building cabinets that are both well-built and beautiful. He enjoys a challenge and creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. His easy-going nature and sense of humour are a hallmark of his customer service.

“I’m not satisfied until the client is satisfied,” says Humberto, “It would be like I never finished the job…”
