On Friday, May 3, the federal government announced the second wave of recipients receiving funding from the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, a $2-billion investment that seeks to help double the number of women-led businesses by 2025.
We are pleased to announce that our founder, Jolanda Slagmolen-Flores, has been selected to receive up to $100,000 from the fund to help grow and scale Casa Flores Cabinetry.
“When the government sets out to empower women-led businesses, it’s gratifying to be selected, particularly since there are just over 200 companies in the country receiving an investment from the fund,” says Jolanda.
The funding could not have come at a better time, as Jolanda just launched our new affordable cabinetry line, Sencillo Cabinets. By simplifying the design, materials and construction, Sencillo Cabinets makes custom cabinetry more accessible for more homeowners. However, fulfilling the promise of providing cabinetry quickly and affordably depends on our ability to improve internal processes and efficiencies.
“With this funding from the Women Entrepreneurship Fund, we will invest in the ‘Screen to Machine’ software, technology, and support staff that will automate our manufacturing process, increase efficiencies, and deliver better value to more customers, while improving our bottom line,” explains Jolanda.
As Alberta faces economic uncertainty, Jolanda exhibits the grit and determination our province needs, as we push to diversify our economy beyond oil services and processing. Jolanda’s commitment to Alberta-based manufacturing has created new job opportunities, supports economic growth, and encourages Alberta entrepreneurs to continue to innovate and expand their businesses.
Congratulations Jolanda!
Stay tuned for updates. We will be working hard behind the scenes over the next few months. We can’t wait to share more with you soon!
